Well, it is now June 7th, 2009 and there is no real news about the Nutrioso Volunteer Fire Department since they posted the minutes of their last meeting with the statement that they are sending a response to their lawyer for approval then submitting it to The Occasional Gazette to print.

I have not printed the second issue yet. As I stated in Part 2, I have been waiting for the response. Since there is still not one I will take some time this week and finish writing the "Further Adventures of the Nutrioso Fire District", and I think it will make alot of questions be asked of them. Their actions continue to not make sense. We have gotten opinions from fire departments around the state and they all state that the NVFD is acting in a very irregular manor. I will have the actual quotes in the upcoming article, as well as addition information you may find interesting.

One thing to keep in mind is that they have been able to pull it off to this point because they consider us too stupid to notice or take action. Are we really that stupid? Are they really that smart? Think about it.

Other Community News:

Does everyone know that the Nutrioso Bible Church is sinking into the ground? Not just a little bit. Enough that they are going to have to move the building to a more stable location. I don't know if this applies to the house too, but I will see what I can find out. That whole area seems rather sunken. They will conduct church services at the Community Center while the building is relocated.

So, what causes land to sink like that? Removal of underground water. The aquafir in that area is drained and the ground is shifting to fill in the vacant space. This is a normal geological process that is the result of the increased pull of the many wells that have been added to the area in the past 20 to 30 years. Add to that the years of drought we have had that result in low ground water. Things start to sink.

What is the implication of this to the EC Bar subdivision lots? Is there adequate water available for a large subdivision on that lower part of the valley? If they pull water for those lots will there still be well water for those on the Mesa and in Dry Valley?

And what is the understanding for developing the EC Bar area as far as promised fire protection? Hydrants? Is that part of the "gotta haves" before they are allowed to bulldoze in the roads and start plunking houses where now there are pastures? May be worth looking at the details.

The Nutrioso Community Association is getting ready for its annual summer events. The End of the Trail Rummage Sale will be the last weekend in June. This is one of the best rummage sales I have ever been to and I hope to find a couple items I need and get rid of a couple things that have become clutter around my place. Friday, June 26th and Saturday, June 27th. Doors open at 8 AM. The Barbeque is the last weekend in July and they are still needing helpers to make it happen. Jump in and be part of the community. It's fun to do things together. It is also a way to know what is going on. Check the bulletin board at the Post Office for details.

I only have a couple days left on the trial of this software, Freeway 5 Pro, and don't know how long it will take me to save up to purchase it. It is the best software for website development I have found. I hope that by purchasing it I will be able to help groups and artists on our part of the mountain have a place on the internet where we can showcase our wares. We could even offer unique, handmade items for sale in a special Nutrioso Emporium. I have lots of experience in marketing and design that I can share with folks. I put together a non-profit called Escudilla Arts & Cultural Association a couple years ago. Then everything got put on hold while I tried to regain some of my health. I would like to see something good come of this.

I still have questionable health, live on a small fixed income, and believe that we can still make some fun cultural events happen in Nutrioso and Alpine. Email me if you want to discuss this more. I would love to hear your ideas.
